Warburton was forced to miss the victory over the Scots because of a dead leg.

Parks stands down from Scotland

Scotland stand-off Dan Parks has announced his immediate retirement from international rugby.

Parks made 67 appearances for Scotland and scored 266 points, including 17 drop-goals, a Scottish record.

“I was thinking about it but the first game of the Six Nations was against England and being able to play was huge for me,” said the 33-year-old.

“On reflection, after talking it over with family, I’ve come to the decision that now is the right time to retire.”

Saracens confirm Ashton capture

Saracens have completed the signing of Northampton and England wing Chris Ashton on a “long-term” contract.

The 24-year-old, whose Saints deal expires in the summer, will join Sarries for the 2012-13 campaign.

The length of Ashton’s deal has not been disclosed by the reigning Premiership champions.

“I’ve decided to join Saracens from next season… until then it’s all about Saints,” he said on social networking site Twitter.

A spokesman for Saracens added: “We are obviously especially delighted but, for now, Chris remains a Northampton player.

Steve Shingler is one of six uncapped players included in the Scotland squad

The Scottish Rugby Union insists Steven Shingler is eligible to take his place in their Six Nations squad, despite a challenge from its Welsh counterparts.

The London Irish back was one of six uncapped players named in Andy Robinson’s 36-man squad.

But the Welsh claim that Shingler is their player after he played in the second-string Six Nations last season.

“Steven confirmed that he declined to sign a declaration he was committed solely to Wales,” said the SRU.

Open winner Clarke becomes an OBE while fellow Northern Irishman McIlroy is appointed an MBE for his US Open win.

Ex-Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis is made a knight, while former cricket umpire Dickie Bird is appointed an OBE.
